Sunshine Splash at NYFW

The fashionable elite in New York are donning yellow during NYFW. Maybe it was due to the pastel shades we all wore for Spring, or a refusal to let summer go, either way the world’s most fashionable city is certainly not ready for dark fall hues. They might call it Mellow Yellow, but the shades we saw were anything but mellow.

Mellow Yellow at NYFW

We found this great shot at Stylesight and borrowed it to show you what we are talking about. Steal this style with our top picks from trendfeedr. Here are a few to get your started.

Dijon My Own Dress from Modcloth mixes a little peplum into the trend.

Adding a pop color in your shoes is a must this year!

A jacket is another great way to add color, without a full day commitment to it.

What do you think of this bright yellow color coming out of fashion week? Is it a hit for you?

NYFW: Derek Lam

Another favorite designer on treendfeedr, Derek Lam, also had a standout show at New York Fashion Week. Based on sportswear classics, graphic and texture played a key role in his warm earthy palette. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite pieces from the runway.

Love the use of texture and asymmetrical pleating of this look.

Denim from patchwork to colorblocking

This year denim has moved away from the blues and into much bolder shades and patterns. As we move into fall it’s not just about bright colors or bold floral and Aztec prints. In addition to all this we are also seeing more patchwork and even color-blocking come into play.

Genetic Denim Shya Cigarette Jeans

These Genetic Denim cuffed skinnies are a great example. The patchwork pattern is woven into the design keeping the coloring relatively consistent throughout.

Citizens of Humanity Riviera

Of course this patchwork idea is still going strong in more Bohemian looks like this Citizens of Humanity Riviera style flair.

Washborn Colorblock Skinny Pants

From patchwork we move to color-blocked. Same idea in that the lines are straight but the contrast is much bolder. These Washborn Colorblock Skinny Pants take the idea to the fashionable extremes with bright orange, white, and then navy along the back.

What do you think? Is color-blocked or patchwork more your style? Leave us a comment and check out our full trendfeedr collection with even more styles following this trend.

Don't Ditch those Shorts Just Yet!

Fall fashion may be here and the weather not far behind but we think it’s too early to lose the shorts. It’s only Labor Day weekend. There is still plenty of hot summer days to rock out in a pair of shorts. Just in case you’re still not sure, we’ve got a great outfit to show you just how serious we are.

Denim shorts were probably a staple of your wardrobe this summer. You don’t need to give them up just yet. Pair them with a chiffon printed top during the day. Then in the morning and evening when the temps dip a bit throw on a cardigan. It will easily transition this summer staple. We added a pretty rose bracelet to give you some arm candy that would coordinate with the sandals.

Do you see? Shorts still have at least a few weeks left to dominate our wardrobes. Find all the pieces to this outfit in our Shorts for Fall Collection on trendfeedr, where shopping for clothes is made easy.

Wear it Now and Later: Oversized Tank

It is the cusp of summer and fall, and soon the leaves are going to start changing color and the weather will get colder. This does not mean that you have to throw out your summer clothes. Here is an example of how a top can double over from summer and into fall!

Let’s start off with a very summery tank top, in this case this Abrielle Tank in ivory. Summer is very hot, especially in August, so shorts are essential. We chose these Genetic Denim Ivy Cutoff Shorts. As for shoes, we went with Alexander Mcqueen Pale Pink Suede Pumps so the look doesn’t get to fussy. Then topped it off with some very casual and fun earrings and a bracelet.

The second outfit, designed for fall, once more spotlights the Abrielle Tank in ivory. We paired it with some Siwy Hannah Slim Crop Jeans to add some warmth for fall. On top of that, we also layered a jacket. As for accessories, we decided on Gucci butterfly sunglasses, OPI nail polish, a watch and a Crystal Starfish Ring from JCrew.

Just because it is summer does not mean you have to change your wardrobe for fall! Make sure to see what other articles of clothing and accessories Trendfeedr has to offer at our website!

Challenging Trend: High Low Style

The high low trend is making a big impact, but we’ve been hearing a general buzz that it’s hard to wear. Today we’re taking out the mystery by giving you two ways to wear it with ease and of course style.

Trendfeedr: High Low Skirts

This leopard print high low skirt is right on trend and makes a big impact. Pairing print and the somewhat unique skirt shape can be a bit overwhelming. Go for an easy top, like this crop knit. Our choice happens to also have the high low effect keeping the silhouettes cohesive. The shape is less important than the easy feel.  By pairing it with a sky high platform wedge, you elevate the entire look and keep that low hemline off the ground.

Trendfeedr: High Low Top

Next we’ve got an exaggerated high low hem on a chiffon blouse. This piece was inundated with likes on our facebook page, so we thought you’d like to know how to style it. We added a crochet short, the heavier feel balances the light and airy top perfectly. A pretty crystal ring and printed wedges bring a nice complimentary color into the mix. Plus the chained bangles from Jules Smith can go with anything!

Feeling more confident in your ability to rock the high low trend? Shop the look with our exclusive trendfeedr collection. Tell us what you think in the comments below and let us know what trends your struggling with.

Five Must-Have Fashion Trends for Fall

White Trench Coat

Canada Goose White Trench Coat

Once cool days begin to replace scorching summer temperatures, you know it’s time to switch up your wardrobe. Here are five fashion trends for fall that every woman should have in her closet.

Trench coat

Every lady needs a well-fitted trench that hugs her curves and exudes sophistication. For a bit more drama, buy one that comes with large buttons or oversized lapels. Many tend to wear this item in understated shades of black, gray, or blue, but that doesn’t mean you have to – you can also find them in eye-catching red or olive green.

Cropped pants

Cropped pants are perfect for times in the season where shorts are out, but long pants feel too stuffy. Wool options tend to work best for the fall, especially in darker shades. Pair them with stunning stilettos to help transform a casual look into something more glamorous.

Blazer

Add polish to an otherwise casual outfit with this classic fashion trend. It can pull the all the elements of a look together, giving the ensemble a vibe that is somewhat bookish. If you want to keep your look more on the casual side, roll up the blazer’s sleeves.

Peacoat

For additional warmth without the extra length that comes with a trench, go with a peacoat. Create hour-glass curves by cinching your coat at the waist. To keep your outfit casual, leave the peacoat open – it’s a perfect look for start of fall, when temperatures haven’t dropped off completely, but T-shirts aren’t cutting it anymore.

Knitted dress

Forgo dresses with breezy summer fabrics in favor of warm, knitted options. They are perfect as stand-alone items that flatter your curves, as well as a snug bottom layer for multi-layered outfits needed for brisk autumn nights. Pair them with boots for a sexy look that won’t leave you freezing.

Now that it’s fall, put your flip flops and tank tops aside. Stock up on fall classics that will keep your feeling comfortable and looking classically stylish and temperatures start to dip.
